Around here you have to fight the ever-present boredom with creativity. It all started about a year or two ago (I forget) when I borrowed my father’s 8mm camcorder, which he would say that I practically own it now, and gathered my friends in front of it. The first shoots were, in retrospect, horrible but we had fun. I've had the chance to use it more now and it is becoming more natural. The shoots got better and the individuals who really enjoyed it, for the most part, stuck around and the others show up occasionally to help us out. It takes a lot out of you to record, edit, engineer, and visualize a piece solely on your own so it's good to have friends who are interested as well.
We as a group have come up with many ideas that never seemed to get finished because of a lack of technology (money, too) to actually edit it, etc. But, as time goes on we learn, we have fun, and we obtain instruments that help us finish a project or two every once in a while. Unfortunately, my Christmas wish list would probably cause a dip in the Dow. We had to start small – but we had to start. You learn the meaning of sacrifice and time management and you're pulled between school, work, and sleep. Where does the time all go? Well, I can assure you, for me, all you have to do is watch the trailer…
